Here are a few basic things
that you can check and mark off
as they are done,
to help you have a smooth,
stress free move.
Prepare an inventory of everything you own
  • Items to be handled by removalist

  • Items to be handled by yourself

  • Items to be left behind

  • Clean and dry inside of your fridge and dishwasher.
  • Place a handful of fresh coffee or baking soda in a sock or nylon stocking.
  • Leave in fridge and dishwasher to keep interior smelling fresh

  • Disconnect your washing machine and don't forget to drain all water.
    Drain all fuels from lawn mowers, edgers etc
    Clean BBQ
    Dismantle any playground equipment or outdoor furniture as needed
    Washout rubbish bins
    Dispose of all un-sealed or opened liquids glass
    Do not polish furniture or clean rugs.
  • Wait until you move into your new home

  • Pack a "Load Last" box for:
  • Sheets and towels so that you won't have to search through all boxes on your first night in your new home.

  • Include other essentials
  • eg: Toiletries, maybe also flashlight, small screwdriver, pliers, can opener, paper plates and cups, coffee, tea and snacks.

  • At destination you may want to set up the T.V. or VCR first to occupy the kids

    Before plugging in your PC at your new home, let it adjust to room temperature.
    It is your responsibility to see that all your goods are loaded, so remain on the premises until loading is completed.
    Do a final Inspection so nothing is left behind.
    Be sure you are there at your new home when removalists arrive.
  • Plan on staying in case they have any questions.

  • Take note to make sure all have arrived and note the condition of all goods.
